The New Times Square

Well since taking the sofobomo picture of Times Square, the city has decided to block off traffic in a few parts of Manhattan. The sofobomo picture was probably the first picture of Times Square I have taken for my flickr stream. I normally try to avoid that part of Manhattan since there is so many people there you can barely walk let alone try to take a picture. Because of the new traffic pattern, I actually got the urge to go and check it out for myself.

I’m not too impressed with it actually, the only perk is that there is more room to walk and you don’t really have to be worried that you would get hit by a car in certain parts of Times Square. All there were in the small areas were lawn chairs for people to sit and some of them were already breaking. For some reason I can visualize a lot of homeless people taking over these spots in the middle of the night, sleeping on the lawn chairs. Then when day comes a tourist comes and sleeps on that same exact lawn chair, it sort of amuses me in a very weird way.

Since the traffic pattern is relatively new and there are no dividers yet, they actually used traffic cones surrounding the public areas! So classy!! I know this is all temporary, but it just looks so bad! Hopefully they change it all soon (aka FIX IT ALL).
